The subject matter, a flowering pastel pink-white zygocactus, is such a beautiful delicate example of one of nature's amazing aero-dynamic designs.

In contrast to the previous post image of 'Ethereal Beauty' with direct sunlight spots, 'Flutterer' is a softer, more subtle, lower key tonal image due to the different light source - reflected light from a heavy overcast grey sky.

With less breezes this time round, it made for easier 'manual' focusing and shooting of a non-wavering delicate suspended flower from a hanging basket.

As I like to get the most sensitive detailed shot using the lowest Aperture Priority camera setting at 100, it also means the time shoot lapse will be slower in lower light conditions.

Taken again using the old resurrected Prime 55mm Pentax lens.

  1/90sec @F22, ISO 100, manual focus.
• Photo processing - Natural state.

The large Red Torch Ginger is from the ‘Etlingera Ginger’ family.

There hasn’t been many more of these flowers happening with the continual dry hot humid weather we’ve been having. Since taking this shot, Feb’s 1st-2nd week of extreme heat (reached 36 Cel inside our house one day, [meaning hotter 38-40 outside] when only forecast for 33Cel) with not one thunder storm or drenching rains in our area, the 4-5m tall blue green stem and leaves have been scorching and slowly turning more to green-yellow-brown.

In the 3rd week of Feb, 15-16th saw some reprieve finally with some heavy coastal showers at least, drenching and refreshing the thirsty landscape and cooling temp's down again.

Hope you enjoy this 'macro' version of the flower image.  I certainly never tire of seeing them growing in our large tropical garden.

Overnight light rain showers have refreshed the garden and first sunlight illuminates this water-kissed orange black tipped flower, Heliconia Psittacorum ‘Choconiana’ or commonly known as the Parrot’s Beak or Parakeet Flower.

Everything is refreshed after a very early morning tropical rain shower during our hot and humid 2011-2012 (much anticipated/delayed) ‘wet’ season.
Day/night temp’s fluctuate usually between 25 – 33 degrees Celsius.

You will only see these multiple bulbous green creeper vine plants with their rich and vibrant flaring ‘fire-flame’ flowers growing usually over all other plants in the garden at this time of year.

(The vampire sucking mozzies were pretty full on too!)

Inspiration from Nature
Early morning 6.14 am December 10th, just after sunrise, clusters of tiny pink buds of a variegated leaved Cordyline terminalis, had commenced flowering. The plant grows in my tropical home garden near Innisfail, Far North Queensland, Australia.
